TAUD has received requests from some utilities which want
to provide their employees with a letter to verify to law enforcement and
any other interested persons that their employees are engaged in
“Essential Services” as defined in Executive Order No. 22 of Governor
Bill Lee which becomes effective on March 31, 2020 at 11:59 pm. The
attached letter has been prepared for you to use as a template for this
purpose. To date, no Executive Order of Governor Bill Lee or any
order of the federal government currently requires that utility employees
have such a letter in their possession when traveling to or from work or
when traveling during work hours as needed to perform their job duties
for the utility. TAUD appreciates all the efforts of its utility
members and their employees to keep their vital utility services
operational for the citizens of Tennessee.
