STOP AND REWIND. On June 23, 2020, TAUD published a COVID-19 Update to
inform its utility members that the authorization for the members of
governing bodies of local governments to participate in board meetings
electronically was not going to be extended past June 30, 2020. This June
23, 2020 Update was based upon a Memorandum issued by the Comptroller’s
Office dated June 23, 2020, which stated that Governor Lee had informed
the Comptroller’s Office that this authorization would not be extended.
However, on June 29, 2020, Governor Lee issued Executive Order No. 51
in which he decided to extend the authorization for the members of
governing bodies of local governments to participate in board meetings
electronically through August 29, 2020.
The guidance for the governing boards of utility districts, utility
authorities and municipal and county utility systems on the parameters
and conditions for conducting electronic board meetings remain the same
which are described in TAUD COVID-19 Update – March 24, 2020: Conducting
Utility Board Meetings with Electronic Access.
